Smart Solar Inspection: Improving Performance and Reliability

Overview

In Bangladesh, solar power plants are growing rapidly, but maintaining them efficiently is still a challenge. Dust accumulation, high humidity, and irregular weather conditions often reduce panel performance. At the same time, large and remotely located solar farms make regular monitoring difficult, expensive, and time-consuming. As a result, faults like hotspots, soiling, and shading often go unnoticed, leading to energy loss and long-term damage.

The Challenge

We encountered these same challenges while working with clients like Spectra Solar and Chint

Bangladesh. In Spectra Solar’s projects, the need was to assess overall energy health, identify

faulty panels, and monitor performance across large installations. With Chint Bangladesh, the

focus was on shading analysis, where environmental factors were directly affecting energy

output—reflecting a common issue across solar sites in the region.

During these operations, we faced practical challenges such as accessing large-scale sites,

ensuring accurate data collection under varying weather conditions, and managing inspection

efficiency. To overcome these, we implemented UAV-based inspection methods that allowed

faster coverage, consistent data capture, and safer operations without disrupting plant activity.

Our Solution

To support this sector, we are actively deploying advanced drone-based inspection and

monitoring solutions. Using thermal and RGB imaging, we detect faults and soiling early. Our

systems are supported by AI-powered analysis for performance evaluation, along with mapping

and geospatial tools for better site understanding. We also utilize RTK GPS and automated drone

surveys to ensure high accuracy and real-time monitoring.

Through these efforts, we are not only solving current operational challenges but also

contributing to a more efficient, data-driven, and sustainable solar ecosystem in Bangladesh.
